Vintage Fair

Today there was a vintage fair in Derby, which me and a couple of friends attended. We had no idea what it would be like, and I have to say we were surprised how much stuff there was there! Obviously there was loads of clothes, but it didn't stop there. They had anything from Lego rings to French fashion magazines from the 1950s. Unluckily, I only found out about this a few days ago, and had no time to save up, so I had no money. But I did manage to scrape together enough to buy a Lego ring, which is one of the cutest things I've ever bought!

Mine and my friend's rings, mine is the blue one.

Lego jewellery!

They also had Scrabble jewellery. I love. But they didn't have any 'J' ones. *crys*

One stall had some miniature perfume bottles, and I adored them! I really wanted this, but I didn't have enough money!

So, go vintage, why not?

Funky Jewellery

Haven't posted in ages, and I'm so sorry! Life's been a bit mental lately, too busy playing internet games (oops!) and doing homework. But I'm back, and better than ever.

Statement jewellery is all the rage. If your style is minimalist, then opt for a big plate metal necklace, if there is usually a bit more happening in your outfits, then leave the necklaces alone, and get yourself a bit of ear and bracelet candy. Don't worry about wearing too many bracelets. You can never wear too many bracelets. Here are just a couple or inspirations for your outfits:

Cuffs are the new bracelets, and I think they can make quite a casual outfit look fairly classy. Not too fussy, so they can match with outfits that are simple, and keep them that way. This beaded beauty is £20.00 from Phase Eight, and will liven up your LBD.

I love the idea behind this. Well, this could just be sewn on beads, but I like to think that it's stud earrings pinned on the collar. I don't have my ears pierced, but if you do have spare studs that have just accumulated in your jewellery box, then use them to spice up collars, pockets and bags. Just use your imagination in your clothes. These studs (right) are from Dorothy Perkins, ranging from £4.00-£.6.50. My favourites are the gold coloured leaf ones (above) because they are just so pretty!
I will update sooner this time, I promise!

Pop Art In The 1960s

The 1960s was a turnaround in style. It's when I say fashion and art really entered the modern age. Bright colours stopped being garish and started to become fashionable. Geometric shapes, block colour and new never-before-seen fabrics walked out onto the catwalks. Twiggy became a fashion icon, famous for the traditional 60s minimalist styles.
So, all these new styles started, and inspired artists such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. Transforming traditional fine art into bold, bright, fun pieces of art. Lots of them only used one or two colours, one for the background, and one for the main detail. Then black and white for further detail. Repeating patterns were also a hit, by replacing the main colours each time, and putting the pictures into a grid.
I think that this was some sort of rebellion. Against the feminine shapes of the 50s, against the technology free days of the past. They wanted to show off all the new found modern stuff that had brought them forwards.

David And Goliath

When I was thinking about inspiration for this post, I was in my PJs. And I was thinking about how much I would love some David And Goliath PJs! And BAM! It hit me, I'd do a post about David and Goliath!

David and Goliath take pleasure in creating funny, colourful and GORGEOUS clothes and accessories. Maybe sometimes they are a bit out of my price range, but if I do come into that amount of money, David and Goliath is a godsend. So far though, I only own one piece of clothing from there. The 'We Be Jammin'' T-shirt! It's so cute, and I love it to bits. The t-shirts can be worn casual with a pair of old jeans or leggings, or, because they don't look cheap, can be worn with a posher pair of jeans or trousers for a smart/casual party. But no, they don't stop at t-shirts and PJs, they create hoodies, bags, joggers and even button badges to brighten up your own clothes!

Just a sweet selection of what they sell. To browse further and to buy, buy, buy, visit Chicks Rule!

Sorry about the late update, and please comment with your thoughts on my blog! Anyone can comment, you can do it anonymously if you want xxx

I Like 'em Big. I Like 'em Chunky.

Sorry if the title threw you off a bit, but this post is about my new spring/winter shoe love! Chunky heels are everywhere, and here are just a few I have found whilst wandering...

Sophisticated but casual look I'd say, good for a posh lunch out with a friend.

Winter warmers! If you can survive in heels for more than 10 minutes, then take these babies out for a spin!

Stand-out accessory to brighten up a LBD.

Sleek, elegant, if you are a film star, wear them on the red carpet!

Good for the office, if your job doesn't involve a lot of walking. Otherwise, show them off at a formal ocassione!

A bit of a lower heel, so maybe these loafers would be a better option for work? Very casual, but appealing.

Wow, these are stunning! Be careful matching the colours though, other wise, go for it.
Sorry about the little wait for a new post, but I have been a bit busy since starting school again after Christmas. Expect a post twice a week, sometimes more. But do stay tuned!

More Thoughts...

Hey! Another random post here! Well, it's not random, just it's not specified. A load of stuff that has been gathering up in my mind over the holidays! Mainly photos to be honest. Anyhow, read on...

Here you have shoes that contain colours that are found on the dress.
This is very useful to find matching accessories!

These are pictures taken of my friends notebook. Don't worry, I asked her permission first! She has taken all the things out of magazines, and put them together to make some adorable outfits. She has taken similar colours and put them together to make outfits, and found accessories to go with them. Just take a look...
Summer beach accessories. I don't know about you, but I am already excited to go on my summer holidays, and these things look brilliant. I love those pink heels to bits, and I want that dress.
See what I mean? Getting in the summer mood already aren't you? Maybe not heels on the beach, but will give you attitude on the poolside.
Androgynous blouse, and ultra feminine heels. I LOVE IT! And that coat in the corner will keep the winter blues away for good, I promise!

This colour is so in this season, so grab it in the sales! You might not like it at first, but I think it grows on you. It's so 70s, that you may as well be in a time machine, and so gorgeous that you could be on the cover of Vogue.

Ooo, how I want that Autumn outfit! Try horizontal stripes before you buy, because they don't suit a lot of people. But if they do suite you then I think they are great.

If only I'd known about this coat before Winter 2011. My Henry Holland one is gorge, but y'know...And that Spring dress is just such an amazing shade of red!

Oh no! Not more coats that I don't have! This is a great casual outfit for winter, teamed up perfectly with those boots!

Autumn parties here we come! Just remember this when September comes! I guess you could also work this in the spring too, especially in rainy UK!

This should probably have gone on yesterdays post, but I only uploaded the picture today! Welcome, to my GORGEOUS lace 50s frock form 'H!' by Henry Holland.

If you've heard of Blue Rinse, then I applaud you. It is a really nice line of vintage clothes that are all made form either vintage patterns, vintages fabrics or adapted vintage clothes. You can find these in the Blue Rinse stores in Leeds or Manchester, and in some Miss Selfridge shops across the UK.

Hope you liked it! Also Max Raynor has put some new designs up on his blog, so be sure to check them out!!
